Speech to Annual Meeting of Council May 2023
The election on May 4th left a very finely balanced Council with Labour on 17, Conservative on 12, Liberal Democrat on 5 and Independent 4. On the casting vote of the outgoing Conservative Chair, who had lost his seat, and the casting vote of the new Conservative Chair, the Alliance of Conservative + Liberal Democrat + Castle Donington Independents on 19 has taken control (Leader, Cabinet and more). I decided to vote with the largest party Labour because I believed a change was needed. Labour + Other Independents are on 19.
The Annual Meeting was on Tuesday May 23rd. It is unusual for speeches to be taken at that meeting but I made sure I was given an opportunity to make Kegworth's voice heard and set out an agenda.
